Up until now, I’ve told you all who I like best personally. Now its time to put my endorsements up for the actual candidates I’d like to see on both sides. As the race draws closer and closer, who we choose becomes even more important, on both sides. We need change, not status quo. In the end it won’t matter which “side” the change comes from, as long as it gets here.

One thing I know for sure, we have to stop the usual way we choose who to vote for. I keep hearing people say they can’t get behind a certain candidate because of how they disagree on some of the more personal issues, like women’s rights for example. That’s all well and good, but I remain convinced that these issues, while important, are not the most important this election year. Above all else, we need someone who will repair the constitution, repeal the Patriot Act and disband Homeland Security, among other things. We need the anti-Bush.

First up, Republicans. I can’t get behind any of the traditional GOP candidates this year. I can get behind the non-traditional Ron Paul. I’ve been saying that all along. Because of his intent focus on getting the Constitution repaired and undoing some of the wrongs wrought by the current administration, he continues to have my endorsement. I realize he is not strong on issues key to some, like abortion, however; he is quite strong on what we need most – Constitution Reform.

Next, the Democrats. If you vote Democrat, I wholeheartedly encourage you to lobby hard for Barack Obama. Hilary Clinton represents not only a polarizing force, but old politics. We don’t need someone who will continue to operate under the status quo, we need someone in office who can effect change. So many hate Hilary that I truly think she won’t be able to get anything done if she is elected. she will spend so much time trying to overcome her past issues, we will continue to be in the throes of our current bad situation. Obama, especially if paired with a good VP to help him over the hump of his youth, would be a candidate to inspire change. He is also strong in technology and understands current issues better than most of the stodgy old guard.

The ballot I want to see in November has Obama vs Paul. Why am I saying all of this after the primaries? Because now the battle for the super delegates and party endorsement begins. You still have time to write or call the delegates and super delegates in your state and lobby for the right person for the job to be nominated. It is not to late to effect the system. I worry that the parties will make the same mistakes as they have in the past, especially the Dems, by going with someone familiar, but unelectable (remember Kerry?).

Something else you should know: my deep desire for a change in the status quo will have a direct effect on my vote. If the November ballot is Paul vs Obama, Paul gets my vote. If it is anyone else vs Obama, Obama gets it. Period. Even though I don’t agree with some of his politics, he is still the better choice than McCain, or Norris forbid, Huckabee (shudder). What about Hilary on the ticket? I haven’t decided. If she had Obama as her VP to even out her problems, I might consider her over another candidate, but if not… II guess I’ll have to give that more thought.
