I have been trying to read Obama’s budget for a week now, and haven’t had time. I’ll update this post when I’m done, but I wanted to throw out a link to it and see what y’all thought while I slogged through it and made up my mind. You can see the tediously detailed version on Whitehouse.gov, or you can see the NPR version here. Tell me what you think!

Sometimes, people can still surprise you.

So funny, as always.

Your vote matters. VOTE. Don’t let weather, work, long lines, bullies, picketers, or anything else stop you.

PAY ATTENTION THIS ELECTION. This guy points out that you should not leave your booth if you have a problem – call a tech to fix it.

Bet you never thought you’d hear this unlikely support for Obama: “I’m voting for the n*gger”, but hear it we are all across the nation in various states. Why? It seem the economy and war trumps the grey areas of racism and hate. Read the full article.

From BallotVox, we hear from an early voter in NC what it meant to her to vote for Obama in her early ballot.

Remember that WASSSSSUPPPPPP commercial from a few years ago? Here it is again, revised for this year. (Via Twitter. Like, all of Twitter. It’s been going around the link carousel there for days)

Colin Powell reaches out across party lines and endorses Barack Obama for President with one of the most reasoned speeches for doing so that I’ve heard yet, including my own list of reasons when I switched from Libertarian leaning Ron Paul to support Obama. Watch the whole video, it’s worth all 7 minutes of your time.

This is hysterical. I have heard that he writes all of his own speeches. If that’s true that makes this even better. :)

Hysterical.

I could not say it better than my very smart friend Chris Penn has in his blog post on why the proposed bail out is such a bad idea. Please go read his post, then call your congressman or senator immediately. Write them, email them, call them, twitter them -let them know how bad this would be by speaking out now and with your ballots in November.

Haven’t seen this campaign video air near me yet, but I hope it does soon. (via GeekForceFive)

I haven’t written for this blog in a while. Partially because I’ve been so busy with Uptown Uncorked, Blorge, freelance clients and my new gig at Mashable, and partially because I haven’t known what to say that isn’t, well, negative or about money, politics, religion or other hot topics. I finally decided, screw it. I miss my outlet, and y’all can take it.

We’ve been in a recession for quite some time. If you don’t believe me, ask my wallet. I make pretty decent money doing what I do, and up until a few months ago, it was enough. I wasn’t living a lavish life, but things were paid for, and I had a few pleasures as well.

As each month passes the belt gets pulled tighter and tighter. Meanwhile, as the American people are facing their financial reality, and with with posts like this one on Queen Of Spain from my friend Erin Koteki-Vest of Huffington Post and BlogHer showing up, what is the Government doing? Not only wasting our money on senseless wars and other expenses but printing more to bail themselves out.

Y’all, I am no financial genius (just ask my bank, I often go into the red because I forget I paid a bill or absentmindedly didn’t deposit quite enough) but even I know that you can’t just print money like we’re in a giant game of Monopoly. This little news item probably has me even more panicked than all of the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman and other news combined. How about you? Worried yet?
